Weekly progress 4/19 New game type
I accepted Maria ’s suggestion and temporarily stopped research on game prototypes and technical issues. This week, I only dealt with the issue of autofocusing of AR device cameras, and then I began to rethink the whole design concept.
Before I had only a relatively vague concept, what I considered more was a technical framework that made these designs possible. But in order to clarify my ideas more clearly, I need to design some possible ways of playing. I am not sure whether the existing technology and equipment can realize such a design, but I intend to discuss only the new interaction method without considering the implementation problem.
Maria suggested that I use the scoreboard to express the desired game content, which I think is a good idea. I added some plots in the first half of the storyboard to explain why I want to design this new game type, and the second half shows the possible game content and game interaction methods
I hope that this comic-like storyboard will make it easier for readers to understand my ideas. At present, I have not completed this storyboard, because I am still considering possible interaction methods when I am modifying the summary paper.
Some ideas may be difficult to realize from a technical level now, but I plan to record these ideas because mobile devices and technologies are developing rapidly. For example, there is no mature XR equipment, but the latest iPad pro equipped with multiple cameras seems to have the potential to achieve better XR. If this technology is mature and used on more devices, some game design ideas can be more easily realized.
